On Jasper Hale (Jasper Whitlock)

07.22.2010

Twilight Series it one of my vices or should i consider it as my favorite book next to Harry Potter Series by J.K.Rowling and Sidney Sheldon's books. I haven't read the book before seeing the first Twilight movie in theater with my teammates. Way back then it was a crack joke to see a vampire in a "Shining Shimmering Splendid" way when exposed to sun. It was funny enough that it did not bother me to know that it was so much popular (i mean the book) because the book haven't catch my attention until on fine occasion when someone i know collects the series. After about a year, I've visited one of my friends house and noticed that she have a copy of the book. Eventually i asked my friend to lend me Book 1 (Twilight) hoping to gain connection with the Twilight movie adaptation or refreshed the memory of it and only then I've noticed that the movie is lacking (not that i bother *smile*). After recollecting for the first book, I've borrowed the second (New Moon) and the third (Eclipse) book then eventually bought the fourth (Breaking Dawn).

The book is rather OK, its because it haven't catch all the emotions HP and other books from my favorite authors while I'm reading it. On the movie adaptations I've been disappointed with New Moon, i was tempted to leave the theater if only Jacob is not so HOT (*giggle*). In this instance it made me think if I'll watch the movie adaptation of Eclipse or not, but then it was a series i would not want to miss , shallow it may seems but who cares when there 's a Jacob (not character or performance wise) to compensate on the lacking (performances, story pacing and others) and a new director is on hand, so i went to movie theater on the opening day not expecting much. Alas! This adaptation is much more better than the first two but not because of Jacob alone, which i may think shares a good laugh in the movie, but mainly because there's  Jasper Hale.

Jasper Hale outshines all the character in this new adaptation, at least for me. Jasper's character for me in book or movie is merely a husband to Alice Cullen, gifted, self preserved and nothing much. But in Eclipse movie he knocks me off or maybe Jackson Rathbone gives justice to its character. Jackson's portrayal of Jasper is so much a fresh air between the conflicting Bella-Edward and Bella-Jacob in  this series.

This adaptation  led me go back to the past life (human life) story of Jasper Hale (Major Jasper Whitlock) in the book. There it was written in third book Eclipse page 287 entitled "New Born". It was then I've realized what's the meaning of the tight-lip face expression  Jasper wears all through out the series. A self preservation look.

And now I'm loving him.
